Zati was named for "Ekadzati" (or "Ekadjati"), a Tibetan goddess of the mystic cults and of wisdom. Ekadzati is depicted with a singular eye. Because the kitten appears to be an oriental breed (Siamese or similar) and because she was born with only one eye, the name seemed appropriate.
Zati is a rescue cat who was not expected to survive because she had such severe eye and upper respiratory infections due to feline herpes. It was contracted from her mother who passed the disease on to her kittens before they were born. Zati gets daily doses of L-Lysine to combat the herpes virus and minimize the secondary infections caused by the disease, including runny nose and sneezing.
