Farm Fresh Eggs
& Succulet Chicken

New chicks usually arrive in June, a combination of layers and meat birds.

Butchering of the fryers takes place in September. Inventory sells out quickly.

Egg laying commences at age 5 to 6 months. At peak, we have gotten as many as 5 dozen eggs per day.

The laying chickens are Plymouth Rock cross, Gold Link, Barred Rock, and Araucana, laying eggs with brown or pastel shells. The eggs are all very fresh, and generally Extra Large to Jumbo in size.

Many supermarkets now carry brown eggs labeled as "Cage-Free", and the price is generally $3.00/doz. and higher. However, they are not as fresh as buying directly from the farm.

The name "Acme Acres" was chosen because our home sits atop a hill. Acme is defined as "the highest point; summit." Some time later we found that "Acme Acres" was also used by Warner Brothers in their Tiny Toons cartoon series.
