October 2005
It began with a call from a local animal rescue group: A pair of goats had apparently been abandoned and were slowly consuming the carefully maintained shrubbery in the neighborhood. The Sheriff's Dept. had been called, but they didn't know how to deal with goats, and none of the animal shelters are set up to house farm animals.
Diane went to investigate and came home with a pair of white female dairy goats (breed: Saanen). One appeared to be younger than the other, so we assume they are mother and daughter. They have taken up residence in the horse stall (which the horse doesn't use anyway) until warmer temperatures allow for new fencing to be installed.
What will be their service at Acme Acres? Will they be bred to become milkers? Will they be taught to pull a cart?
